Salvadoran Streamer Komanche Dies at 30 in Monterrey
The popular digital content creator and co-creator of the Squid Craft Games was found dead in Mexico.
The Salvadoran streamer and content creator Carlos Mauricio Gómez, widely known as Komanche, has died at the age of 30. His body was found inside a rented home in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, according to local reports and confirmation from his representatives.
Byron Reyes, Komanche's manager, confirmed the tragic news on social media after speaking with the influencer's family. While local reports noted that the body showed no signs of violence and authorities launched an investigation into the cause of death, Reyes and several colleagues in the digital industry took the opportunity to speak out against cyberbullying and the immense online pressure faced by internet personalities.
"The bullying at any scale is not a game," Reyes wrote on Instagram, adding that internet users often feel entitled to criticize others without knowing the severe impact of their words. Other prominent digital creators, including Alana Flores, Westcol, and Fernanfloo, also shared emotional farewells and highlighted the ongoing struggles with mental health and online harassment within the streaming community.
Born in El Salvador on September 27, 1996, Gómez started streaming in 2015, overcoming early socioeconomic challenges before achieving international prominence between 2020 and 2022. He became recognized for his engaging content involving popular video games such as Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto, and Fortnite, establishing himself as one of Central America's most influential figures in digital entertainment.
One of the defining milestones of his career was serving as a key co-creator and organizer of the Squid Craft Games alongside prominent streaming figures like AuronPlay and El Rubius. The Minecraft-based competition shattered global viewership records on Twitch and established itself as one of the most successful community events in the Spanish-speaking streaming world.
Beyond his major collaborative projects, Komanche maintained a dedicated audience across multiple platforms, including Twitch, YouTube, and Kick, where he regularly streamed titles like Elden Ring and Demon's Souls. He had recently stepped away from Twitch following policy disputes and planned to participate in upcoming digital and physical events, including future boxing initiatives.
As friends, fans, and colleagues continue to mourn his passing, tributes across the internet emphasize his contributions as an ambassador for Salvadoran digital culture and urge greater awareness surrounding online harassment and mental health support.
