Salvadoran Streamer Carlos Mauricio Gómez, Known as El Komanche, Dies at 30
The popular content creator and co-creator of the Squid Craft Games was found dead in his home in Monterrey, Mexico.
Carlos Mauricio Gómez, the Salvadoran content creator widely known as El Komanche, has died at the age of 30. His body was found in a residence located in the Paseo de Cumbres neighborhood of Monterrey, Mexico, where he lived and rented the property.
Local authorities and emergency responders were alerted after neighbors noticed the front door of the home remained open from the previous day. Property owners checked the premises, discovered the body without vital signs, and contacted law enforcement. Initial reports from local media indicated no visible signs of violence at the scene, and the body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service to perform an autopsy as investigations continue to determine the exact cause of death.
The news was officially confirmed by his representative, Byron Reyes, who stated that he had spoken directly with the creator's family. Reyes shared heartfelt tributes across social media, emphasizing the severe impact of online harassment and stating that cyberbullying at any scale is not a game.
Born in El Salvador on September 27, 1996, Gómez began building his career in digital entertainment around 2015, gaining significant popularity on platforms like Twitch and YouTube through video game streams, chats, and entertainment content. His peak recognition arrived between 2020 and 2022 through major collaborative projects.
Among his most notable achievements was helping drive the Squid Craft Games, a large-scale Minecraft competition inspired by the series Squid Game. Gómez organized the event alongside prominent digital creators such as AuronPlay and El Rubius, bringing together major Spanish-speaking personalities and significantly expanding his regional and international footprint.
Throughout his career, Gómez collaborated with numerous digital figures, including Ibai Llanos and Fernanfloo. He was also previously slated to participate in the upcoming sixth edition of La Velada del Año, a prominent boxing tournament organized by Ibai Llanos, though his participation was ultimately canceled after he announced it prematurely in violation of a confidentiality agreement.
Following the announcement of his passing, an outpouring of grief and condolences spread across social media. Fellow streamers and internet personalities, including AuronPlay, Ibai Llanos, Coscu, and Spreen, expressed deep sorrow over his death, while various colleagues used the moment to speak out against online hate and the pressures faced by public figures in digital spaces.
