Netherlands and Oman Prepare for ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 Tri-Series
The KNCB has announced its squad for upcoming matches in Dubai as both national teams battle for crucial points in the standings.
The Royal Netherlands Cricket Association has officially named its traveling squad for the upcoming round of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 fixtures, where the Netherlands is set to face Oman and the United Arab Emirates in Dubai.
This 50-over competition serves as a vital pathway toward qualification for the upcoming World Cup scheduled to take place across three countries in southern Africa in November 2027. The top four teams at the conclusion of League 2 will advance directly to a Global Qualifier in 2027, with the Dutch squad already assured of its participation in that qualifying tournament.
The Netherlands currently holds third place in the standings with 38 points accumulated from 32 matches. Meanwhile, Oman sits closely behind in fourth position with 33 points from 30 matches, level on points with fifth-placed Namibia.
Looking ahead to the upcoming fixtures, newly appointed Netherlands men’s national coach Ashley Noffke emphasized the strategic value of the tour. "We are looking forward to the tournament in the UAE, where we will be focusing on our style of play, our combinations and creating a great team dynamic that can continue to grow upon the solid platform that already exists," Noffke stated.
He further noted that the upcoming matches provide an ideal environment to evaluate younger players. "It will be a great tour to look at some of our young and up-and-coming talent, and give them an opportunity to showcase their skill at an international level," Noffke added.
The Netherlands squad features a balanced roster led by captain Bas de Leede alongside experienced players such as Colin Ackermann, Max O’Dowd, Scott Edwards, Paul van Meekeren, and Fred Klaassen. The team also includes Shariz Ahmad, Noah Croes, Cedric de Lange, Daniel Doram, Aryan Dutt, Kyle Klein, Michael Levitt, Zach Lion-Cachet, and Timm van der Gugten.
The tri-series schedule features multiple encounters between the competing nations. The Netherlands will open its campaign against the United Arab Emirates on October 25, followed by a match against Oman on October 27. Subsequent games include fixtures against the UAE on October 31 and November 4, alongside a concluding match against Oman on November 2.
