Matteo Arnaldi's campaign at the Rolex Paris Masters came to an end on Monday after a three-set defeat to British left-hander Cameron Norrie. Competing at La Défense Arena on the indoor hard courts in Paris, the 25-year-old Italian fell 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 in a match that lasted nearly two hours, continuing his search for his first career main-draw win at the tournament.

The encounter featured shifting momentum throughout, beginning with a tightly contested first set. Norrie broke Arnaldi early to claim a 2-0 advantage, but the Italian responded in the fourth game by breaking back with a drop shot. However, Norrie immediately regained the upper hand by breaking Arnaldi again in the fifth game, eventually closing out the opening set 6-4 after 36 minutes.

Arnaldi completely turned the tide in the second set, displaying dominant form from the baseline and raising his service intensity. The Sanremo native surged to a 3-0 lead and secured a second break later in the set, comfortably leveling the match by taking the second frame 6-1 in just 27 minutes.

Despite the commanding second set, Arnaldi could not maintain his momentum into the decisive third frame. The turning point occurred in the fourth game when Norrie capitalized on his only break point of the set to pull ahead 3-1. From there, the British player remained flawless on his serve, allowing Arnaldi no further opportunities to break back and sealing the match with a 6-3 scoreline.

Match statistics highlighted the closeness of the contest, with both players winning exactly 73 total points each and converting three out of seven break opportunities. Arnaldi struck more winners at 34 compared to Norrie's 22, but he also committed more unforced errors, totaling 28 to the Briton's 21.

The defeat marks Arnaldi's third appearance in Paris and his second in the main draw, leaving him still searching for a breakthrough victory at the event. The loss also extends his difficulties on indoor hard-court surfaces as the 2026 season nears its conclusion.

Following his victory, Cameron Norrie advances to the second round of the prestigious ATP Masters 1000 tournament, where he will face the tournament's third seed, American player Ben Shelton.
