Jack McBrayer Reprises Kenneth Parcell Role for Today Show Halloween
The actor surprised viewers by stepping back into his iconic 30 Rock character during the morning program's centennial broadcast.
Actor Jack McBrayer surprised television viewers on Friday, October 30, by reprising his famous role as Kenneth Parcell from the hit comedy series 30 Rock. The cameo took place during the annual Halloween broadcast of the Today show, which dedicated its yearly themed special to celebrating the 100th anniversary of NBC.
During the broadcast, the show's anchors took viewers on a nostalgic tour through a century of television history at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Co-host Savannah Guthrie dressed as an NBC page and guided her colleagues through recreations of iconic network moments, ranging from late-night television and classic sitcoms to sports and morning news.
The tour concluded at the Shop at NBC Studios, where the focus shifted to the celebrated Emmy-winning comedy 30 Rock, which gave audiences a satirical look behind the scenes of a fictional television network. Guthrie reflected on the show's memorable characters, including Tina Fey's head writer Liz Lemon and the relentlessly cheerful page played by McBrayer.
At that moment, McBrayer made his surprise entrance on set, stepping seamlessly back into the role that made him a fan favorite. Walking up to Guthrie, he offered words of praise for her tour. "Oh, Miss Savannah, you gave quite the tour," McBrayer said in character. "And it was like reliving my favorite NBC moments."
When Guthrie asked if he truly loved the network, McBrayer delivered a classic line from his character's repertoire. "Well, there's only two things I love in this world: Everybody," Kenneth replied, prompting Guthrie to add, "And television."
To cap off the appearance, McBrayer presented Guthrie with an official NBC page pin and encouraged her to be "proud as a peacock." The heartfelt interaction wrapped up the segment before the entire cast of anchors assembled to bring the century-spanning holiday tribute to a festive close.
The Halloween extravaganza is an annual tradition for the morning program, drawing massive viewer anticipation with elaborate costumes, musical performances, and special guest cameos. Executive Producer Tom Mazzarelli noted that the anchors thoroughly enjoy the creative process and embrace the ambitious production every year.
