Honda Unveils 2027 CRF1150L Africa Twin Series at EICMA

Honda has officially introduced its world premiere of the 2027 CRF1150L Africa Twin large-size adventure bike series at EICMA 2026 in Milan, Italy. Marking a full model change for the Africa Twin family under the development concept of Shaped by You. True Adventure for All, the new lineup features an increased engine displacement, comprehensive weight reduction, and a low-center-of-gravity layout designed to improve handling and overall balance.

The new CRF1150L series expands to three distinct variants to accommodate a wider variety of riding styles. Alongside the returning standard Africa Twin and the long-distance touring Adventure Sports model, Honda has added the all-new CRF1150L Enduro Sports, which is specifically tailored for enhanced off-road performance.

At the heart of the updated series is a liquid-cooled, 1,131cc parallel twin-cylinder engine. The power unit boasts an enlarged bore diameter and compression ratio, delivering a maximum power output of 87.5 kW at 7,500 rpm and 119 Nm of torque at 5,700 rpm. Honda reports that these mechanical updates provide greater acceleration and comfortable cruising performance.

Chassis enhancements include a newly designed frame and aluminum swingarm that reduce weight by 1.4 kilograms compared to previous generations. By positioning a fuel sub-tank beneath the seat, the engineering team achieved a lower center of gravity, which helps improve maneuverability and control at low speeds. Additionally, the standard and Adventure Sports models utilize Showa electronically controlled suspension systems featuring Honda Skyhook technology.

A major technological addition arrives with the CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports, which becomes the first Honda motorcycle to offer the newly developed Honda SENSING RIDE system. Utilizing millimeter-wave radar units mounted at both ends of the motorcycle, the package provides rider assistance features such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go functionality, Blind Spot Information, and forward and rear collision warnings.

The Enduro Sports model is designed for rugged terrain, incorporating front suspension specifications and styling elements equivalent to the Dakar Rally-competing CRF450 RALLY. It features a high front mudguard and extensive off-road tuning to provide exceptional capability away from paved roads.

Honda has also incorporated sustainable materials into the new Africa Twin series as part of its ongoing environmental initiatives. Recycled acrylics, chemically recycled nylon, plant-derived bioengineering plastics, and post-consumer recycled polypropylene are utilized across various bodywork components, emblems, and screens.

Pricing and official market release dates for the 2027 CRF1150L Africa Twin series have not yet been announced by the manufacturer.
