Honda has officially introduced its heavily updated motorcycle lineup for 2027, highlighted by a comprehensive redesign of the iconic Africa Twin family. Showcased ahead of the Milan motorcycle exhibition, the new models bring significant mechanical, structural, and technological enhancements designed to elevate performance both on and off the road.

At the heart of the update is a redesigned parallel-twin engine, which grows in displacement to 1,131 cc and transitions the model designation to the CRF1150L Africa Twin. According to the manufacturer, the mechanical modifications deliver a 16 percent increase in maximum horsepower, bringing output to 119 horsepower, alongside a roughly 7 percent boost in torque to 119 Nm. Engineers revised the fuel system, larger throttle bodies, cylinder heads, and valve train, while raising the compression ratio to improve mid-range response and power delivery during long-distance touring.

The structural framework has also been re-engineered. A redesigned semi-double cradle steel frame and aluminum swingarm shave 1.4 kilograms off the total weight. Honda lowered the overall center of gravity by shifting components and relocating a portion of the fuel into an auxiliary tank beneath the seat, drawing inspiration from the brand's historic Dakar Rally machines. Furthermore, the Showa EERA electronic semi-active suspension now comes as standard equipment across the lineup, featuring the new Honda Skyhook Control system.

The 2027 family is divided into three distinct variants: the base Africa Twin, the touring-focused Adventure Sports, and the newly introduced Enduro Sports. Developed specifically for aggressive off-road use, the Enduro Sports trim features rally-inspired bodywork, a raised front fender, increased ground clearance, longer suspension travel, and dedicated off-road riding modes.

Technology takes center stage inside the cockpit, featuring a dual-display setup that combines a 5.7-inch lower TFT screen with a 7-inch upper touchscreen offering wireless smartphone connectivity and smart key integration. The Adventure Sports model introduces the advanced Honda Sensing Ride package, which utilizes dual front and rear radars to power sophisticated active safety features such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, blind-spot monitoring, and emergency brake assistance.

While some European dealerships have offered autumn promotions to clear remaining 2026 inventory ahead of the rollout, the 2027 generation promises a substantial leap forward for riders seeking cutting-edge safety and enhanced touring capabilities. Pricing and regional market availability details are expected to be fully announced as the new motorcycles reach showrooms.
