Harley-Davidson Debuts Sprint 440 Cruiser for Entry-Level Riders
The new 440cc single-cylinder motorcycle aims to attract beginners and returning riders with an accessible price point and compact design.
Harley-Davidson has officially revealed its latest cruiser, the Sprint 440, marking a significant addition to the manufacturer's lineup of entry-level motorcycles. Making its public debut at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy, the new model is designed to appeal to beginner riders, individuals returning to motorcycling, and holders of an A2 license.
Powered by an air-and-oil-cooled 440cc single-cylinder engine, the Sprint 440 produces 27 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 28 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm. The powertrain is paired with a six-speed transmission that features an assist-and-slip clutch to reduce lever pressure, along with tall overdrive ratios in fifth and sixth gear to optimize fuel efficiency during highway cruising.
The motorcycle features a steel tubular frame and a compact layout, carrying a 9-liter (2.4-gallon) fuel tank. Ergonomics are tailored for accessibility, highlighted by a low seat height of roughly 671 mm to 683 mm depending on the rider load and market specifications, allowing many riders to plant both feet firmly on the ground. The kerb weight is listed at approximately 187 to 189 kilograms ready to ride.
Suspension duties are handled by a 43mm inverted front fork with 130 mm of travel and twin rear shock absorbers with seven-step mechanical preload adjustment. Braking is managed by a single 320 mm front disc with a two-piston caliper and a 240 mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper, accompanied by standard anti-lock braking systems and ten-spoke cast aluminum wheels.
Modern technology on the compact cruiser is kept straightforward, featuring a 3.5-inch round color TFT display above the handlebar, full LED lighting, and a 5-volt USB-C charging port positioned above the headlamp. Color options include Dark Billiard Gray, Vivid Black, and Teal Thunder, featuring orange tank graphics and a new 'Harley Hare' character on the side panels.
Pricing and availability vary significantly by region. In the United Kingdom, pricing starts at £4,995 for the base Dark Billiard Gray option and £5,195 for other variants, while German market reports place the starting price around 5,700 euros with sales expected to begin in November 2026. In the United States, the motorcycle is scheduled to arrive at dealerships in spring 2027, with final assembly taking place at the manufacturer's facility in York, Pennsylvania.
Harley-Davidson CEO Artie Starrs emphasized the accessibility of the new model, stating, 'The new Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 model is our invitation to ride. It's an ideal motorcycle for a variety of riders -- the new rider who wants to build skills and confidence, but also a great option for returning riders who want to get back on the road or as an uncomplicated and fun ride for experienced riders.'
To support customization, Harley-Davidson is offering a range of genuine accessories at launch, including alternative seating options such as Tallboy, Reach, and Brawler solo seats, throw-over textile saddlebags, a sissy bar, a detachable clear windshield, an engine guard, and items from the Willie G. Skull collection.
