Honda has unveiled the comprehensive redesign of its Africa Twin range for the 2027 model year, marking a decade since the introduction of the CRF1000L. Showcased at the EICMA motorcycle exhibition, the updated adventure lineup features a larger engine, revised frame geometry, enhanced electronic systems, and the addition of a specialized off-road model.

At the heart of the new CRF1150L series is an upgraded parallel-twin engine, which grows in displacement from 1,084cc to 1,131cc. The modified powerplant delivers a peak power output of 119 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 119 Nm of torque at 5,750 rpm. Honda engineers achieved these performance gains through a larger bore, a revised cylinder head, and a higher compression ratio, alongside internal optimizations designed to provide stronger mid-range responsiveness.

The chassis architecture has also undergone significant revision. The steel semi-double-cradle frame and aluminum swingarm are collectively 1.4 kilograms lighter than the previous generation. To improve handling and maneuverability, the center of gravity has been lowered by extending the fuel tank partially beneath the rider seat. Furthermore, the standard model now incorporates Showa’s electronically controlled EERA suspension featuring Skyhook Control technology.

The updated model range is divided into three distinct versions. The standard Africa Twin is designed for general balance with a 21-inch front wheel, while the road-focused Adventure Sports variant offers a 19-inch front wheel and a larger 24.2-liter fuel tank. For the 2027 lineup, the Adventure Sports introduces a top-tier variant equipped with Honda Sensing Ride, an advanced assistance suite utilizing front and rear millimeter-wave radars.

The Honda Sensing Ride system integrates multiple safety features, including Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go functionality, Blind Spot Information, Forward Collision Warning, and Emergency Brake Assist. This technology is paired exclusively with Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission, allowing the automated systems to interface smoothly with gear changes during heavy traffic or long-distance touring.

The third addition to the lineup is the Enduro Sports model, tailored specifically for rugged off-road riding. Weighing 228 kilograms in its manual transmission configuration, the Enduro Sports features fully mechanical Showa suspension with increased travel, providing 260 millimeters of ground clearance. It is designed to offer a lighter, more specialized alternative for enthusiasts prioritizing unpaved terrain.

Inside the cockpit, the motorcycles feature a revised layout combining a 5.7-inch information display with a 7-inch TFT touchscreen supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The electronics package now includes six customizable riding modes—Sport, Touring, Urban, Rain, Offroad, and Offroad+—alongside optimized traction control and braking systems for diverse riding conditions.
