The latest round of FA Vase fixtures delivered intense competition and dramatic finishes as non-league clubs battled for a coveted spot in the third round. Prestwich Heys bowed out of the competition after a 2-0 defeat against West Didsbury and Chorlton at the Step Places stadium. A goal in each half from Joe Berks secured the win for the hosts, ending Prestwich's strong run of form and sending them out at the second-round stage.

Northwich Victoria also exited the tournament following a scoreless draw against Yarm and Eaglescliffe, which ultimately culminated in a 3-2 defeat on penalties. Despite dominating much of the first half and playing against 10 men for a significant portion of the second half, Northwich failed to capitalize on their opportunities. Yarm executed their defensive game plan effectively before prevailing in what was described as a tense penalty shootout.

Meanwhile, Brocton advanced to the next phase after surviving a major scare against Abbey Hulton United. Manager Alex Curtis saw his team squander a two-goal lead before holding their nerve to triumph 5-4 on penalties. Charlie King and Dylan Millington had initially put Brocton ahead before their Midland League Premier rivals fought back to force the shootout.

In other second-round results, Bilston Town secured a 4-2 victory over Heanor Town thanks to late goals from Jordan Crump and Callum Bright. Gornal Athletic also progressed with a hard-fought win over Ashby Ivanhoe, while Eastwood Community recorded a resounding 4-0 victory away against Lye Town to secure their place in the hat.

The draw for the third round of the FA Vase has officially set up a series of exciting matchups scheduled for November 28. Hadleigh United, the lone remaining Suffolk representative in the competition, earned home-field advantage at Millfield against Heybridge Swifts. Hadleigh punched their ticket to this stage by overcoming a two-goal deficit with 20 minutes remaining to defeat Halesworth Town 3-2, capped by Keiran Driver's stoppage-time brace.

Other notable fixtures drawn for the third round include Nelson facing Shildon, West Didsbury and Chorlton taking on Retford, and Thornton Cleveleys squaring off against Yarm and Eaglescliffe. Additional pairings feature Woolton against Bishop Auckland, Holker Old Boys meeting North Shields, and Droylsden clashing with Bottesford Town.

As clubs turn their attention back to domestic league campaigns, eliminated teams will look to bounce back in upcoming fixtures. Prestwich Heys prepares to face St Helens Town at Adie Moran Park, while Northwich Victoria prepares to meet Dudley Town as the non-league season continues its relentless schedule.
