All sixteen teams return to the pitch simultaneously as playoff spots, the final postseason berth, and the NWSL Shield remain up for grabs.

The 2026 National Women's Soccer League regular season concludes with an action-packed slate as all sixteen clubs kick off simultaneously at 5 p.m. ET. With the postseason bracket nearly finalized, high stakes remain around the final playoff spot, the coveted NWSL Shield, and crucial top-four positioning for home-field advantage.

The battle for the eighth and final playoff spot centers primarily around the Seattle Reign, who control their own destiny heading into the final fixture. A victory for the Reign against the visiting Orlando Pride guarantees them a postseason berth. However, any misstep by Seattle opens the door for either the North Carolina Courage or expansion side Denver Summit FC to secure the last remaining spot.

The race for the NWSL Shield, awarded to the team with the best regular-season record, features a tight contest between Gotham FC and the San Diego Wave. Gotham currently holds the advantage and can claim its first NWSL Shield with a win or a draw against the Utah Royals, provided San Diego stumbles. Meanwhile, the San Diego Wave must defeat Bay FC and hope for a Gotham loss to leapfrog into first place.

Further down the standings, the Washington Spirit and Kansas City Current are fighting to secure a top-four finish and a valuable home playoff match. Washington faces the Chicago Stars in the nation's capital, aiming to bounce back after a recent loss to Kansas City, though they will be missing midfielder Hal Hershfelt due to an ACL injury. Kansas City travels to face Racing Louisville, hoping to capitalize on Louisville's five-game winless streak.

Expansion side Angel City FC enters Decision Day riding a strong run of form and hoping to secure a home playoff game. To achieve this, Angel City must defeat the Boston Legacy and receive some help from other matches. Boston, despite being eliminated from postseason contention, has proven to be a dangerous spoiler throughout the year, having recently drawn against San Diego.

Other notable matchups on the final day of the regular season include the Portland Thorns visiting the Houston Dash. The Thorns are fighting to climb into fifth place in a tight grouping alongside Utah and Angel City, while the Dash look to finish their campaign on a positive note after being mathematically eliminated from playoff contention earlier in the season.

With standings tightly contested across the board and multiple postseason scenarios hanging in the balance, Decision Day promises intense competition. Every match carries significant implications as the league transitions from a grueling regular season into the high-stakes drama of the 2026 playoffs.
