Wolverhampton Wanderers secured a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory against Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Wednesday evening, with 19-year-old substitute Sean Neave netting a crucial double. The win propelled Wolves into the Championship's automatic promotion places, moving them into second position and within a point of league leaders Middlesbrough.

Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto revealed after the match that clever preparation played a direct role in their equalizer. The Portuguese manager explained that the coaching staff had prepared short hotel videos for the strikers to analyze how the opposing goalkeeper defends and handles rebounds. Neave capitalized on that exact analysis when he reacted quickest to tap in a parried shot from Adam Armstrong.

"He said when the game finished: 'Coach, I saw the videos, and I scored like that','" Peixoto said, praising the teenager's humility and impact. Neave later added a second goal in the closing stages to complete the comeback and seal all three points. The strikes marked his first goals in the Championship since joining the club on loan from Newcastle United.

The visitors entered the fixture as the clear form side in the second tier, carrying an unbeaten run that extended to five matches. However, the first half presented significant challenges for the visiting side. Bristol City took the lead through an amazing goal, forcing Wolves to adjust their tactical approach at halftime.

"At half-time we spoke with the team, they understood what the game needed and they had soul, were more aggressive, more direct, attacked the spaces," Peixoto stated, adding that the dramatic nature of the contest tested his nerves. The introduction of attacking substitutes ultimately pushed the team forward, rewarding the manager's tactical gamble to deploy multiple forwards and wingers.

For Bristol City, the result added to their recent home struggles at Ashton Gate under manager Michael Skubala. Despite coming into the fixture following a 3-2 away victory over Bolton Wanderers, the Robins have now lost five of their seven home matches this season across all competitions.

Before the match, statistics highlighted Bristol City's vulnerability on home soil alongside Wolves' strong momentum. While Bristol City sat in the lower half of the standings with difficulties in securing results in front of their home fans, Wolves continued their strong push for an immediate return to the Premier League.

Peixoto emphasized that despite the euphoria of the late victory, the squad must maintain its focus as the long Championship season continues. The visiting side will look to carry their winning momentum into their upcoming fixture against Wrexham.
