Ticketmaster Announcements Span Free Masses, Promotions, and User Issues
Recent developments involving Ticketmaster include free tickets for a papal mass in Peru, weekly two-for-one concert promotions in Mexico, and customer complaints over canceled purchases in the United States.
Ticketmaster has been at the center of several major announcements and consumer controversies across North and South America, ranging from promotional discounts and high-profile event registrations to unexpected ticket cancellations.
In Peru, the Archdiocese of Lima and Ticketmaster Perú announced that free tickets for the upcoming mass presided over by Pope Leo XIV will be managed through the platform. The ceremony is scheduled for November 16 at the Las Palmas Air Base in the Santiago de Surco district.
According to official details, the digital ticket exchange for the papal mass will run from November 5 through November 8, subject to availability. Users can secure up to eight tickets per account, with each digital pass linked to specific personal identification documents such as a DNI, passport, or alien registration card, featuring a unique QR code.
Meanwhile, Ticketmaster in Mexico rolled out its regular Thursday two-for-one promotion on October 29, covering a wide selection of concerts, theater productions, and live performances across Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey. Featured events on the promotional list included performances by artists such as David Bisbal, Intocable, and various theatrical productions.
In related touring news, Japanese singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu confirmed a performance at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City for February 9, 2027, as part of his Ghost World Tour, with tickets distributed through Ticketmaster México following promoter OCESA listings.
In the United States, however, the ticketing platform faced scrutiny after a customer publicly shared his frustration over canceled purchases. Sean Eden claimed on social media that Ticketmaster voided four Olivia Rodrigo tickets worth nearly $1,000 without prior notice or immediate explanation.
Eden stated that company representatives later informed him his account had been flagged for alleged bot activity because the credit card used did not match the shipping address on file. Following inquiries and subsequent communication, Ticketmaster reportedly restored and comped the tickets for the customer.
Ticketmaster maintains strict terms of use policies designed to combat automated bot purchasing software on its marketplace, which can result in revoked purchases if accounts are flagged for suspicious activity.
