Television host and animal expert Franziska Knabenreich is mourning the unexpected death of her fiancé, Roy John Scannell. The 41-year-old passed away suddenly on October 17, as announced by the 46-year-old presenter in a detailed and emotional post on Instagram.

Accompanying a black-and-white photograph of her late partner, Knabenreich addressed him directly, writing, "Roy, you were my favorite person, my rock, my best friend. You will forever have a permanent place in my heart. I will carry your love, your laughter, and all the special moments we were allowed to share with one another within me forever." The exact duration of their relationship had not been publicly shared.

Online records indicate that Scannell passed away in the Netherlands. In her heartfelt message, Knabenreich also expressed her sympathy for his parents, his two brothers, and his entire family, noting that he would be profoundly missed and deeply loved.

The television personality further honored her fiancé by including the poem "When Love Remains" in her tribute, which speaks of a premature farewell and an enduring love that death cannot erase. In her Instagram stories, Knabenreich shared additional glimpses of her grief, posting a photo of a dog resting its head on a blanket alongside the caption, "My dog is mourning with me," as well as a final snapshot of the couple together on a sofa with three dogs.

Followers and public figures quickly flooded the comments section with condolences. Claudia Anders, wife of former Modern Talking star Thomas Anders, wrote, "Our heartfelt condolences. We were truly shocked. Wishing you a lot of strength, dear Franzi, from Thomas and me!"

Knabenreich is widely known in Germany for her extensive television work centered around animals. Between 2015 and 2024, she served as a host and coach on the Vox animal program "hundkatzemaus" and also coached families on the show "3 Engel für Tiere" from 2017 to 2024. Having turned her passion for dogs into a profession, she opened her first grooming salon in 2015, authored a book on canine care in 2018, and began hosting the podcast "Wolfsblut – Tierisch echte Geschichten" last year.
