The San Francisco 49ers are set to face the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in an upcoming Week 7 matchup that features several familiar faces on both sides of the field. The game, scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, brings together former colleagues and highlights key players who are shaping the current NFL season.

Among the storylines is the return of former Falcons head coach Raheem Morris, who is now serving as the defensive coordinator for the 49ers. Morris held the head coaching position in Atlanta during the 2024 and 2025 seasons before joining San Francisco in 2026.

The 49ers' defense will be tasked with containing standout Falcons running back Bijan Robinson, who has compiled an impressive 785 total scrimmage yards this season. Robinson amassed 641 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 111 carries, along with 20 receptions for 144 yards and another score.

Ahead of the game, Robinson spoke fondly of his former coach during a Wednesday press conference. "I’m super excited to play him," Robinson told reporters, referring to Morris. "Obviously he’s a father figure, big brother to me, and to get to play him and his defense, and just how well they’ve been doing, is a testament to him and what he’s done."

Robinson acknowledged the challenge of facing a strong San Francisco defense that enters the game undefeated. The 49ers rank seventh in the NFL in rushing yards and yards per carry allowed, giving up just 541 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns on 150 carries this year.

On the offensive side, the 49ers feature wide receiver Mike Evans, who has continued to produce at a high level. In his first season with San Francisco, the 33-year-old veteran has recorded 27 catches for 420 yards and three touchdowns.

Atlanta defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich offered high praise for Evans during his Thursday press conference, describing the 13-year NFL veteran as "a living, walking Hall of Famer." Ulbrich added, "I don't think there's any doubt about that. He plays with everything so we are assuming he is going to play."

Ulbrich's comments addressed Evans' current injury status, as the wide receiver missed practice on Wednesday due to ribs and Achilles injuries. Despite the concerns, the Falcons defense is preparing for the 6-foot-5 receiver to take the field on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Falcons rely heavily on wide receiver Drake London, who ranks fourth in the league with 550 receiving yards. Both teams boast dynamic weapons as they head into Sunday's anticipated matchup in Atlanta.
