Real Madrid defeats Barcelona at Spotify Camp Nou as club sets ticket record
Real Madrid secured a 2-1 victory while Barcelona achieved a historic box office milestone despite a lower attendance.
Real Madrid traveled to the Spotify Camp Nou and secured a 2-1 victory over Barcelona, taking all three points and narrowing the gap in the standings to just three points. Guided by tactical decisions, Madrid delivered a strong performance that nullified Barcelona's natural playing style and limited their passing combinations.
Midfielder Jude Bellingham stood out for the visitors with an exceptional physical display. The England international won 13 individual duels during the match, outperforming Barcelona's entire midfield combined, which managed a total of nine duels. This statistic marked the second-highest number of duels won by any player in a single La Liga match this season.
Beyond his defensive intensity and ability to win challenges, Bellingham contributed offensively by delivering a skillful play that set up Real Madrid's winning goal of the night. His performance exemplified Madrid's overall physical superiority and tactical preparedness in central areas during the fiercely contested encounter.
While the visiting side celebrated on the pitch, Barcelona reached a historic financial milestone off it. The club generated a record-breaking box office revenue of 19,105,768 euros from ticket sales for the match at the Spotify Camp Nou, surpassing the previous record of 16,465,731 euros set during a previous fixture.
Despite a lower attendance of 60,055 compared to 62,213 at the prior match, revenue increased due to dynamic pricing, a higher average ticket price of 984 euros before tax, and an expanded VIP seating capacity. VIP hospitality revenue saw a significant surge, with average prices reaching 2,727 euros.
According to club data, 86 percent of the regular seating capacity was occupied by season ticket holders and club members who purchased tickets during the pre-sale period. The financial success highlights the club's revenue potential as they look toward future stadium expansions that will increase total capacity.
In addition to ticket sales, the club set records at its official store inside the stadium, surpassing 860,000 dollars in sales over two consecutive days. Merchandise tied to a collaboration with rapper Tyler, the Creator also generated record revenue across physical and e-commerce platforms, capping off a remarkable weekend for the club both commercially and competitively.
