Real Madrid secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Barcelona on Sunday afternoon at the Spotify Camp Nou, closing the gap at the top of the La Liga standings. Played before 62,055 spectators during the tenth round of the Spanish championship, the match marked the first defeat of the domestic season for the Catalan side.

French forward Kylian Mbappé proved to be the decisive factor for the visitors, netting both goals for Real Madrid. The win elevates the Madrid squad to 24 points, keeping them in third place and cutting Barcelona's lead at the top of the table to just three points. Barcelona remains in first place with 27 points, while Atlético Madrid sits between them in second place with 25 points.

Heading into the fixture, both teams faced demanding circumstances. Barcelona was looking to bounce back following a 4-2 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the week. Meanwhile, Real Madrid was forced to navigate the match without goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who missed the game due to an illness, prompting Andriy Lunin to start in goal. The visitors also played without the suspended Vinicius Junior, deploying a tactical setup focused on defensive compactness and rapid wing transitions.

The opening half began with a cautious pace as both sides tested each other. Real Madrid broke the deadlock just before halftime in the 41st minute. Following a low cross from the left, a defensive clearance deflected off Mbappé's leg and found its way past the goalkeeper into the net, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead heading into the intermission.

Barcelona intensified its pressure in the second half and found an equalizer in the 61st minute. Brazilian forward Raphinha capitalized on a precise pass from Pedri inside the penalty area, firing a low shot past the defense to level the score at 1-1 and energize the home supporters.

As the match neared its conclusion, Real Madrid reclaimed the advantage in the 87th minute through a rapid counterattack. Jude Bellingham initiated the sequence by winning possession in midfield, quickly feeding Eduardo Camavinga down the left flank. Camavinga advanced to the baseline and delivered a backward pass to Mbappé, who calmly scored his second goal of the match to seal the 2-1 victory.

With the three points secured, Real Madrid shifts its focus toward the next round of fixtures, where they will face Racing away from home. Meanwhile, Barcelona will host Alavés on Saturday as the club seeks to recover domestically.
