Kylian Mbappé Leads Real Madrid to Late Victory Over Barcelona

Kylian Mbappé scored twice to lead Real Madrid to a dramatic 2-1 victory over La Liga leaders Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Sunday. The win cuts Barcelona's lead at the top of the table to just three points, breathing new life into the domestic title race.

Manager José Mourinho's tactical game plan paid dividends as Real Madrid imposed an organized and aggressive press from the opening whistle. The visitors kept Barcelona's high-powered attack quiet for long stretches, frustrating the hosts and controlling the pace of the match.

Real Madrid broke the deadlock just before halftime when a cross from Yan Diomande was cleared by Barcelona defender Gerard Martín directly into Mbappé, sending the ball ricocheting past goalkeeper Joan García for the opening score.

Barcelona responded in the second half, shifting the momentum and finding an equalizer shortly after the hour mark. Pedri played a clever reverse pass to Raphinha, who blasted a low shot through a crowded penalty area and past goalkeeper Andriy Lunin to level the score at 1-1.

With the match seemingly heading toward a draw and Barcelona pressing for a winner, Real Madrid launched a swift counterattack in the 87th minute. Arda Guler picked out substitute Eduardo Camavinga, who eluded Pau Cubarsí and slid a pass across the face of the goal for Mbappé to tap into an empty net.

The victory handed Hansi Flick's Barcelona their first domestic defeat of the campaign, halting their nine-game winning streak in the league. For Real Madrid, the win marks their fifth consecutive victory across all competitions under Mourinho and moves them within striking distance of the league summit.

Following the match, Mourinho praised his squad's discipline and execution on the road. "My team had an extraordinary game, very organized, good concentration, with courage to play out from the back against a team that presses you a lot," Mourinho told reporters.
