Radio Mitre mourned the passing of Marcela Giorgi, one of the station's most historic and recognized broadcasters, after a delicate health battle that kept her away from her professional duties in recent months. The news was communicated on air by journalist and close friend Mariel Di Lenarda during a live broadcast conversation with Adriana Verón.

Verón opened the program by addressing the emotional weight carried by the entire station family over a difficult situation that they had intentionally kept private out of respect. "We all kept silent because the first thing you do is respect a person who is going through a difficult health moment, that is respected," Verón stated on air, explaining why the network chose not to disclose earlier updates.

Listeners had frequently inquired about Giorgi's health status in recent weeks, given her prominent and long-standing presence on the network. With authorization from Giorgi's siblings, Di Lenarda ultimately confirmed the broadcaster's passing to the audience, speaking with a broken voice during the live segment.

"It is the on-air appearance I never would have wanted to have, but our dear Marcelita Giorgi has left us," Di Lenarda expressed. She highlighted the steadfastness of Giorgi's family throughout the ordeal and emphasized the deep affection the broadcaster inspired, noting that "there was no one who did not love her."

Following the broadcast announcement, tributes quickly spread across digital platforms. Di Lenarda shared a photograph alongside a message reading, "It hurts my soul. I love you, dear friend," accompanied by an infinity symbol.

Radio Mitre also expressed its sorrow through an official statement accompanied by a black mourning ribbon. The station honored her legacy by stating, "Marcela Giorgi was part of our history and left a mark on our station. We accompany her family, friends, and loved ones in this difficult moment. Her voice and her career will always remain in our memory."
