Pakistan secured an impressive 87-run victory over England at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, marking their second consecutive win in the ongoing ODI tri-series. The win propelled Pakistan above Australia into fourth place in the ICC Men's ODI rankings, accumulating 103 rating points and placing them just one point behind third-placed South Africa.

The centerpiece of Pakistan's victory was 21-year-old all-rounder Arafat Minhas, who delivered a standout performance. Minhas scored 59 runs from 58 balls to help lift Pakistan to a total of 302 for nine, before claiming career-best bowling figures of 6 for 40 as England was bowled out for 215. His bowling spell stands as the second-best by a Pakistan bowler in an ODI on home soil, trailing only Shoaib Akhtar's 6 for 16 against New Zealand in 2002.

Reflecting on his performance, Minhas described the day as memorable and pointed out that his dismissal of England captain Harry Brook was a dream delivery for a left-arm spinner. "Winning the match is the most important thing. It is a memorable day for me," Minhas stated, crediting team captain Shaheen Shah Afridi's instructions for helping him execute his plans effectively by bowling in the right areas.

England's chase showed early promise as they reached 120 for 1, needing 183 runs from 190 balls. However, Minhas's destructive spell unraveled the batting lineup. Harry Brook admitted afterward that his team had played the left-arm spinner too cautiously, noting that a bolder approach will be needed moving forward.

Alongside Minhas, other young players made significant contributions for Pakistan. Hasan Nawaz scored 79 runs, while Saad Baig added 35 runs to the total, highlighting the growing impact of the nation's rising generation of cricketers. Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf praised the emergence of this talented pool of youngsters, while noting that the key challenge for the new setup will be sustaining consistent performances at the highest international level.

With two wins and four points, Pakistan sits comfortably with one foot in the upcoming final scheduled for October 31 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Meanwhile, England and Sri Lanka continue to seek their first points in the tri-series, setting up crucial fixtures ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup.
