KIA Tigers Reflect on Season as Players and Staff Look Toward Future
Following a competitive postseason run, the organization navigates roster transitions and expresses gratitude for fan support.
The KIA Tigers have concluded their 2026 campaign, marking the end of a season defined by both individual achievements and collective challenges. As the team shifts its focus toward the upcoming year, players and staff are reflecting on the experiences gained during their postseason journey and the support received from their dedicated fanbase.
Foreign pitcher Adam Oller, who served as a key component of the Tigers' rotation, recently shared his appreciation for his teammates and the organization. After signing with the club in 2024, Oller demonstrated consistent performance, recording 11 wins and a 3.13 ERA during the 2026 season. Despite facing difficulties during the playoffs, including two losses in the series against the Samsung Lions, Oller emphasized the growth he experienced throughout his tenure.
"It was a joy to play baseball with the best teammates I have ever met," Oller stated via social media. He expressed his gratitude to the coaching staff and the fans, noting that playing for such a passionate group of supporters was a significant blessing. Oller is now preparing for the offseason with the goal of returning as a stronger athlete for the next season.
The roster is also undergoing structural changes, with veteran infielder Ha Ju-suk settling into his role with the team following a mid-season trade. Ha, who became the starting shortstop for the Tigers, is expected to transition to a competition for the starting third base position next year as the team adjusts its defensive alignment. His integration into the squad was highlighted by the public support of his wife, cheerleader Kim Yeon-jung, who maintained a respectful presence for both the Tigers and Ha's former organization, the Hanwha Eagles.
Kim Yeon-jung’s efforts to support her husband, which included discreetly providing coffee trucks for KIA staff and players, were well-received by the community. She noted the unique challenges of the trade, stating, "It was a process of adapting to something new, but thanks to the warm welcome from KIA fans and the continued support from Hanwha fans, he was able to finish the season well." Her sentiment underscored the sense of camaraderie that often surrounds professional athletes during periods of transition.
As the KBO League postseason continues, the Tigers are already evaluating their performance against the league's top contenders. While the team fell short of the Korean Series, the organization remains committed to building on the foundation established this year. With players like Oller and Ha looking toward future improvements, the Tigers are focused on refining their roster and strategy to remain competitive in the coming season.
