Juventus Defeats Napoli 2-0 with Stunning Second-Half Goals
Kerim Alajbegovic and Jeremie Boga secured a crucial home victory for Juventus in Serie A following a tense match at the Allianz Stadium.
Juventus rebounded from a disappointing defeat against Genoa by defeating Napoli 2-0 at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday in the 10th round of Serie A. After a balanced and scoreless first half, the home side broke the deadlock in the 70th minute through a brilliant long-range strike from 19-year-old Kerim Alajbegovic.
The match remained competitive early on, with both sides trading missed opportunities. Napoli's Lorenzo Lucca tested Juventus goalkeeper Michele Vicario with an early header, while down the other end, chances fell to both teams before halftime. Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti adjusted his tactical lineup at the break, bringing on Federico Gatti for an injured Weston McKennie, which significantly stabilized the home team's defense.
The turning point arrived midway through the second half. Following a skillful buildup on the right side by Edon Zhegrova, the ball fell to Alajbegovic, who unleashed a powerful left-footed shot from outside the box that beat Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret and kissed the inside of the post. The goal marked the Bosnian youngster's first in Serie A and energized the home crowd.
Compounding Napoli's difficulties, defender Luca Marianucci received his second yellow card just five minutes later for a bookable offense, leaving the visitors down to ten men for the remainder of the contest. Acting manager Marco Landucci's squad struggled to mount a comeback after falling behind and losing a player on the pitch.
In the 87th minute, substitute Jeremie Boga sealed the victory for the Bianconeri with a nearly identical strike to the opening goal. Receiving a pass from Andrea Cambiasso near the edge of the penalty area, Boga curled a precise right-footed shot past Meret to make it 2-0.
With this victory, Juventus climbs to seventh place in the Serie A standings with 17 points, sitting one position and three points ahead of Napoli in eighth. Both clubs will now turn their attention to European competitions, as Napoli prepares to face Porto in the Champions League and Juventus travels to the Netherlands to play AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League.
