Genoa Secures Third Consecutive Victory Over Lecce in Serie A Match

Genoa secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Lecce at the Stadio Via del Mare during the 10th round of Serie A action. The visiting squad extended its winning streak to three matches, climbing to 13 points in the league standings and matching the tallies of Cagliari and Torino.

The visiting side started the match aggressively, dominating early possession and threatening through an early volley by Samuel Wiafe that drifted just wide of the post. The breakthrough arrived in the 11th minute when Junior Messias delivered a precise low cross into the penalty area, allowing Milutin Osmajic to finish with a well-coordinated turning shot for his fourth goal of the season.

Continuing their strong first-half performance, Genoa doubled their lead in the 28th minute. Stephan El Shaarawy launched a quick transition pass to Messias, who outpaced the defense and beat goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone to put the visitors comfortably ahead.

Lecce attempted to mount a comeback before halftime. Youssef Maleh reduced the deficit in the 40th minute when his free-kick deflected off the defensive wall and past goalkeeper Justin Bijlow. Lecce nearly equalized shortly after when Nikola Stulic found the net, but the goal was immediately overturned by VAR after a handball review.

The second half remained intense as both sides traded scoring opportunities. El Shaarawy struck the outer goalpost with a powerful long-range effort, while Bijlow made crucial stops to preserve the narrow lead under pressure. In the closing moments, Vitinha squandered an opportunity to seal the victory for Genoa, shooting over the crossbar after a creative buildup from Messias, but the visitors successfully defended their advantage until the final whistle.

With this result, Genoa earned their first away success of the campaign, moving seven points ahead of their tally at the same stage last season. Meanwhile, Lecce remained on nine points following their third consecutive defeat, leaving both clubs navigating contrasting trajectories in the Italian top flight.
