The James Madison Dukes aim to rebound from their first loss of the season when they face the Troy Trojans in Harrisonburg.

The James Madison Dukes will host the Troy Trojans in a Sun Belt Conference matchup on Thursday evening in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET at Bridgeforth Stadium, with television coverage provided on ESPN2.

James Madison enters the contest with a 7-1 overall record and a 4-1 conference standing. The Dukes look to bounce back following a tough 34-31 overtime loss to Appalachian State. That defeat halted a strong start that had positioned JMU near the top of the Sun Belt East and in the conversation for the Group of Five playoff spot.

Meanwhile, the Troy Trojans arrive in Virginia searching for answers after dropping four of their last five games. Troy holds a 3-4 overall record and a 1-2 conference mark, coming off a 21-14 home loss to Louisiana-Monroe where the offense stalled late in the game after holding an early lead.

The Dukes feature a high-powered offense averaging 41.4 points and 456.3 yards per contest, leading the Sun Belt. Quarterback Camden Coleman commands the passing attack with 1,567 yards and 14 touchdowns, while running back George Pettaway anchors the ground game, ranking among the nation's leaders in rushing yards.

Troy's offense has faced challenges recently, averaging 22.9 points per game and struggling through the air. Quarterbacks Goose Crowder and Tucker Kilcrease have split time amid inconsistent offensive line play and mounting negative yardage plays. However, the Trojans lean on a solid rushing tandem featuring Gavin Griffin and Jordan Lovett.

Defensively, James Madison boasts the top run defense in the conference, surrendering just 100 yards per game on the ground and racking up 21 sacks. That stout front presents a difficult test for a Troy offensive line that has allowed significant pressure in recent weeks.

Betting markets and prediction models heavily favor the Dukes at home, with point spreads sitting around 20.5 points in favor of James Madison. Both teams enter the nationally televised midweek matchup with contrasting motivations as JMU tries to reclaim momentum and Troy fights to reverse its mid-season skid.
