Law enforcement and emergency personnel rushed to Franklinton High School in Franklin County, North Carolina, on Monday morning following a report of an active shooter. The call was received at approximately 10:23 a.m., prompting an immediate lockdown of the campus and a massive police response from local and state agencies.

Franklin County Emergency Management and local sheriff's deputies quickly secured the school grounds, located at 910 Cedar Creek Road. State and local authorities initiated a thorough sweep of the buildings to ensure the safety of everyone inside the facility, which serves students in grades nine through 12.

Within an hour of the initial call, officials confirmed that no evidence of a shooting had been discovered and no injuries had been reported. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation also responded to the scene, deploying agents to assist with the ongoing investigation and confirming the heavy police presence.

Franklin County Sheriff White stated that an initial sweep showed no signs of any threats and assured the public that all students were safe. Authorities later classified the emergency call as a false alarm, though officials emphasized that every such threat must be addressed with the utmost seriousness.

"False alarms like this are not funny, but unfortunately must be taken seriously," Sheriff White wrote in a public statement. He added that law enforcement would investigate the origin of the false report and pursue significant consequences for the perpetrator.

Franklin County Schools released a statement confirming that there was no immediate threat and prioritizing the safety and well-being of students and staff. District officials worked alongside law enforcement to coordinate dismissal procedures so that students could be safely reunited with their families.

Law enforcement officers remained on campus throughout the day to manage the transition and maintain security. Authorities urged community members and parents to avoid the surrounding area while the investigation into the source of the false call continues.
