The FC Barcelona women's football team will defend its top position in Liga F this Sunday when it travels to face the FC Badalona Women in a regional derby. The match is scheduled to take place at the Municipal de Palamós-Costa Brava, which serves as the temporary venue for the home side due to ongoing stadium improvements involving the installation of a new pitch and lighting upgrades.

The Blaugrana squad arrives at the fixture following a dominant 8-0 victory away against Danish side HB Køge in the UEFA Women's Champions League, alongside a 3-0 domestic win against Granada. Led by manager Pere Romeu, the league leaders currently hold a two-point advantage over Real Madrid at the summit of the standings. Romeu noted the team's strong momentum but maintained a cautious approach regarding their upcoming opponents.

Despite currently sitting in the lower half of the standings with eight points from their opening matches, the Badalona squad presents a formidable challenge. The team has endured a difficult stretch, accumulating five consecutive matches without a win and falling to the lower positions of the table. However, Barcelona coach Pere Romeu emphasized that the opposition's position does not reflect their true quality on the pitch.

"It is a team that should have more points than it has because of its squad, the quality of its players, and its style of play," Romeu stated during a pre-match press conference, adding that both clubs know each other very well from previous encounters.

The home side will have to manage without several key figures, including former Barcelona midfielder Vicky Losada, who is sidelined with an injury after spending twelve seasons with the Catalan powerhouse and securing their first Champions League title in 2021. Berta Pujadas is also unavailable for the hosts following recent meniscus surgery.

On the visitors' side, Barcelona will be missing Kika Nazareth due to a quadriceps injury that is expected to keep her out for four to five weeks. In addition, long-term absentees like Laia Aleixandri, Vicky López, and Irene Paredes remain unavailable, though recent defensive adjustments involving Aïcha Camara and Renee van Asten proved successful during their recent European outing.

As both clubs prepare for the Sunday clash, the fixture highlights contrasting objectives: Barcelona aims to consolidate its leadership and maintain distance from chasing rivals, while Badalona seeks a vital turnaround to escape the relegation zone and recapture its early-season form.
