FC Barcelona Defeats Deportivo Alavés 6-1 in LaLiga Match

FC Barcelona secured a dominant 6-1 victory against Deportivo Alavés on Saturday at the Spotify Camp Nou during the eleventh matchday of the 2026/27 LaLiga EA Sports season. The win allowed the Catalan club to maintain its position at the top of the league standings with 30 points out of 33 possible, rebounding strongly after suffering recent back-to-back defeats against Paris Saint-Germain in Europe and Real Madrid domestically.

Manager Hansi Flick deployed a reshaped lineup featuring notable tactical adjustments due to injuries, giving Brian Fariñas his first official start at right-back while shifting Frenkie de Jong into a central defensive role alongside Pau Cubarsí. Despite these experimental changes in the backline, Barcelona controlled the flow of the match from the opening minutes.

Raphinha opened the scoring for the hosts in the 8th minute by finishing off an assist from Fermín López. Fermín added a second goal himself in the 23rd minute with a powerful cross-shot from a tight angle after a buildup involving Lamine Yamal. Raphinha netted his second of the night and Barcelona's third just before halftime in the 41st minute, before Lamine Yamal capped off a prolific first half by scoring a brilliant fourth goal in stoppage time, sending the hosts into the break with a commanding 4-0 advantage.

The intensity continued after the interval as Lamine Yamal secured his brace in the 64th minute, converting a chipped finish following a pass from substitute Gabriel Jesus, a goal that was subsequently validated after a VAR review. Later in the second half, Anthony Gordon added a sixth goal for the Blaugrana in the 81st minute with a clinical finish after breaking through the Alavés defense via a precise pass from Rodrigo.

Deportivo Alavés managed to pull a goal back in the 84th minute when Mariano Díaz intercepted a stray backpass from Rodrigo and capitalized on the defensive miscue to beat goalkeeper Joan Garcia. However, the visitors struggled to mount a serious comeback against a commanding Barcelona side that effectively managed its player rotations with upcoming fixtures in mind.

Following the final whistle, Fermín López reflected on the importance of the result after a challenging stretch. "It has been a hard week for us and there was no better setting to find ourselves again than the Camp Nou and with our people," Fermín stated, earning MVP honors for his stellar performance, which included one goal and two assists.

With this victory, Barcelona preserves its league lead and builds crucial momentum ahead of two demanding fixtures. The squad prepares to host Aston Villa in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday before visiting Atlético Madrid in domestic competition the following weekend.
