Chivas and América Face Off in Regular Season Finale of Liga Femenil

The Liga Femenil Apertura 2026 regular season concludes this Friday with a highly anticipated matchup between Chivas and América. Known as El Clásico de México, the game is scheduled for 7:06 PM at Estadio Akron, where both teams will look to finalize their positions before entering the upcoming liguilla phase.

Both clubs have already secured their spots in the postseason, but significant stakes remain for the final match. América enters the contest aiming to secure the overall league lead, a goal that players Karina Rodríguez and Nancy Antonio have emphasized as a priority. While the team is also preparing for a future appearance in the FIFA Women's Club World Cup, the immediate focus remains on finishing the regular season at the top of the standings.

For the visiting América side, the match also serves as a platform for forward Geyse da Silva to pursue individual scoring records. With 21 goals already to her name, she is within reach of the record of 22 goals in a single regular season, currently held by Charlyn Corral. Despite the potential for individual milestones, players have stated that the team's tactical execution and collective success against their rivals remain the primary objectives.

Chivas enters the match in strong form, having secured six consecutive victories. Over their last five games, the team has been highly productive offensively, netting 13 goals. The Guadalajara side will look to maintain this momentum against an América squad that has demonstrated its own offensive prowess, scoring 23 times in its previous five appearances.

The rivalry between the two teams has a history of intense encounters. A notable example occurred on March 7, 2025, when América managed a 1-1 draw despite playing with 10 players and having a field player, Karen Luna, take over goalkeeping duties after an expulsion. Such historical moments underscore the competitive nature of this fixture, where institutional pride often takes center stage regardless of the mathematical implications for the standings.

Fans in Mexico can watch the game on Fox Sports and Tubi. In the United States, the match will be available via Telemundo Deportes and FOX Deportes, with streaming provided through Peacock. For international audiences, the game will be broadcast on ChivasTV. As both teams prepare for the liguilla—where América is already slated to face Toluca in the quarterfinals—this match serves as a final test of form and preparation for the challenges ahead.
