Celebrity Traitors Sparks Tension and Fan Concern Over Cast Dynamics
Recent episodes of the BBC reality competition brought dramatic roundtable clashes and social media worry regarding cast members.
Recent episodes of Celebrity Traitors on the BBC have brought intense drama, leading to heated roundtable exchanges and online concern from viewers regarding the emotional well-being of the contestants. During Thursday evening's installment of the game, comedian Joanne McNally and fellow star Miranda Hart found themselves in a tense disagreement following a mission involving a rickety lair and wobbling floorboards.
During the challenge, the participants acting as Traitors crept around to disrupt the Faithfuls' construction of shields. Miranda Hart grew suspicious of Joanne McNally after feeling the floor shake beneath her on the left side, an observation she decided to voice before the roundtable. Joanne immediately pushed back against the assertion, expressing her unhappiness and arguing that Miranda's theory made her suspicious in return.
Although Miranda later noted that her floorboard theory had been debunked, Joanne took issue with the fact that it was brought up at all. Viewers watching the broadcast took to social media to criticize Joanne's sharp reaction, prompting the comedian to defend herself online afterward. Taking to Instagram Stories, Joanne explained that the tension and atmosphere of the deception game had gotten the better of her in that specific moment.
Writing to her followers, Joanne stated, "Was it my finest moment? No. Did the tension of the roundtable and the general gaslighting get into my head in that moment? Yes it did." She added that the show is ultimately a game about deception and that she and Miranda had laughed about the incident since it occurred. Miranda Hart also took to social media to support her co-star, sharing a clip of Joanne and writing that there was never any real stress between them.
Miranda posted, "It’s so funny to me that people are saying that you snapped. Never felt like that. Was never stressed. And actually we chinked glasses and laughed on the night." However, Miranda's journey on the program came to an end shortly after when she was eliminated by the actual Traitors, who feared she was growing too close to discovering their identities.
Reading her elimination letter, a disappointed Miranda reflected on her time on the show. "Ultimately, in my little personal story, this has been quite extraordinary that I have been able to get back and do the thing that I love professionally and do the things that I love personally," she expressed, mentioning the joy of exploring the Scottish Highlands and connecting with others.
Meanwhile, Friday night's episode generated additional anxiety among fans regarding Scottish actress Sharon Rooney. During a tense roundtable discussion where both Sharon and Joanne McNally faced accusations of being Traitors, viewers flooded social media platform X to express concern that Sharon appeared distant, drained, and completely checked out of the competition.
As fellow players pointed out perceived changes in her behavior and questioned her actions during a previous mission, Sharon offered little defense and told her castmates to simply vote her out if they believed she was guilty. Her subdued demeanor left audiences wondering if she had lost enthusiasm for the program, leaving the episode on a cliffhanger regarding the fates of both Sharon and Joanne.
