The ninth iteration of the iconic wrestling persona aims to expand his global reach through Major League Wrestling.

The professional wrestling world is turning its attention to Chicago this weekend as Major League Wrestling (MLW) hosts its Saturday Night SuperFight at Cicero Stadium. Among the featured bouts, the ninth incarnation of the legendary Black Tiger character is set to compete in a tag team match. Partnering with Ultimo Guerrero, the wrestler will face the team of Templario and Titan in a contest that highlights the promotion's ongoing efforts to showcase international talent.

The current Black Tiger, who previously performed under the name Magnus, has been working to establish his own identity while honoring the history of a persona that dates back to the 1980s in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Having held the Mexican National Tag Team Championship in Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) alongside his partner Rugido, the performer is now focused on elevating the Black Tiger name across different wrestling markets, including the United States, Japan, and the United Kingdom.

In a recent interview, the wrestler emphasized the cultural significance of the role, noting that he carries the legacy of predecessors such as Mark Rocco and Eddie Guerrero. He expressed a desire to blend the traditional styles of past Black Tigers with his own unique approach. "I need to bring a little bit of every Black Tiger," he stated, while acknowledging that he is working to explain his personal style to a global audience that may be unfamiliar with the character's rich history.

The appearance at Saturday Night SuperFight follows a period of growth for MLW. Owner Court Bauer recently highlighted the company's expansion, noting that new media rights deals with platforms like Veeps and Tubi have allowed the promotion to reach a broader audience. Bauer explained that the company’s strategy involves maintaining a fast-paced, hour-long format for its flagship show, 'Fusion,' to cater to modern viewing habits that favor concise, high-impact content.

MLW has been actively reshaping its roster to include a mix of established veterans and high-flying talent. The current lineup features a diverse range of performers, including Killer Kross, Matt Riddle, and various international stars. Bauer noted that the company remains aggressive in the free-agent market, looking to talent from New Japan, Stardom, and CMLL to maintain the momentum built throughout the year.

As Black Tiger continues his tenure in the promotion, he views the upcoming pay-per-view event as a critical step in his career. With a goal to eventually perform in countries like Canada or Australia, he remains committed to the rigorous training required to maintain his status in the industry. "I have the capacity to be in the sky and the stars with the biggest names in the business," he said, reflecting on his aspirations to make the Black Tiger name a household fixture in professional wrestling.
