Asian Medalist Harmilan Bains Sparks Debate With Reality Show Audition

Asian Indoor Championships gold medalist Harmilan Bains has become the center of online discussion following her recent audition for the adventure reality show Roadies Rebirth. The show, which premiered on October 16 and streams on JioHotstar and MTV, features Rannvijay Singha as host alongside gang leaders Neha Dhupia, Baseer, Abhishek, and Prince.

During her appearance on the program, Bains shared details about her athletic career and struggles with the panel. When she mentioned her gold medal victory at the Asian Indoor Championships, judge Neha Dhupia asked which sport she competed in. Bains clarified that she earned her gold medal in running.

While the panel appeared impressed by her achievements during the broadcast, the exchange quickly drew criticism online. A viral video of the audition prompted numerous viewers to question the judges' qualifications, with many social media users arguing that the panel's knowledge fell short of the athlete's accomplishments.

Several fans expressed confusion over why an international-level competitor would audition for such a program. Commenters on social platforms noted that an athlete of her caliber should be focused entirely on representing the country rather than appearing on entertainment television.

Criticism was also directed at the judges' reactions during the segment, with viewers taking particular issue with Dhupia's questioning. Many online participants felt that the interaction did not show appropriate awareness of a major sports medalist's credentials.

Harmilan Bains is a prominent middle-distance runner hailing from Hoshiarpur in Punjab. In addition to her gold medal at the Asian Indoor Championships, she has represented India successfully at the Asian Games, where she secured two silver medals in the 800-meter and 1500-meter events.

Furthermore, Bains is a former national record holder in the 1500-meter run. Her transition from major international sports arenas to the audition stage of a reality television series has surprised many sports enthusiasts and television viewers alike.
