The television anime adaptation of Bleach concluded its remarkable run after twenty-two years on the air. The final episode of the Thousand-Year Blood War arc, titled Death and Strawberry, aired on TV Tokyo and affiliated networks, marking the end of an era for one of Japan's most celebrated animation and manga properties.

Originally created by Tite Kubo, Bleach was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2001 to 2016, amassing a worldwide circulation of more than 130 million copies. The narrative follows Ichigo Kurosaki, a teenager capable of seeing ghosts who acquires the powers of a Shinigami, or death god, from Rukia Kuchiki. Alongside his allies, Ichigo defends humanity from evil spirits known as Hollows and navigates extraordinary battles across otherworldly realms.

The original television adaptation ran from 2004 to 2012 across sixteen seasons, but it concluded before adapting the final story arc of the manga. That missing conclusion eventually arrived as the Thousand-Year Blood War series, which premiered in October 2022 and was divided into four distinct chapters. The final installment brought the narrative to a close by depicting a world ten years after the climactic Soul King conflict.

Fans and critics celebrated the conclusion, contrasting it with the perceived shortcomings of the original manga's ending. Due to health issues experienced by Kubo during the final years of the print serialization, the original manga conclusion was widely considered rushed and divisive. The new animated adaptation provided Kubo and animation studio Pierrot Films an opportunity to implement major revisions and deliver what many enthusiasts have praised as a definitive and satisfying resolution.

To commemorate the historical broadcast, special media releases accompanied the finale. A special ending video featured the series' iconic theme song Number One alongside original animation key frames, staff credits, and a symbolic message highlighting the characters' journeys. Additionally, a visual retrospective video traced the evolution of Ichigo Kurosaki across fifteen different stages, culminating in his adult appearance a decade after the great war.

Over its two-decade lifespan, Bleach has cemented its status as a foundational pillar of modern popular culture. Alongside contemporaries like One Piece and Naruto, the franchise helped propel the global popularity of anime and manga to unprecedented heights. Its distinctive blend of stylish aesthetics, supernatural action, and unique character design continues to influence subsequent generations of creators within the industry.
