Adrianne Curry Criticizes Kylie Jenner Over Victoria's Secret Debut

The reality TV star's runway appearance and $50 million Fantasy Bra wear spark debate among fashion critics and former models.

Following her recent runway debut at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Los Angeles, reality television star and beauty mogul Kylie Jenner has faced criticism from professional models, including the first winner of America's Next Top Model, Adrianne Curry. The event, held on Sunday, October 18, featured Jenner wearing the brand's standout $50 million Fantasy Bra.

During a livestream on Tuesday, October 20, Curry voiced strong disapproval of Jenner walking in the show and wearing the high-profile garment. Curry criticized the brand's casting choices, arguing that companies frequently prioritize influencers over traditional runway talent.

Curry stated that Jenner does not possess a traditional model's body and questioned the decision to award her the Mega Bra. Comparing the honor to winning homecoming queen, Curry remarked that such a role is typically reserved for top Victoria's Secret Angels and declared the brand's choices to be a joke.

Social media users echoed similar sentiments, with critics on platforms like Threads arguing that giving the multimillion-dollar piece to a celebrity rather than a career runway model represented a missed opportunity to restore the brand's prestige. Despite the backlash, Jenner's family, including her mother Kris Jenner and boyfriend Timothée Chalamet, were present at the event to support her.

The centerpiece of the controversy was a luxury undergarment created in partnership with Jacob & Co. According to USA Today and other reports, the lavish item contains 4,410 natural diamonds alongside a 75.54-carat Fancy Vivid yellow diamond. Designed by Jacob Arabo, the piece reportedly required more than 1,000 hours of craftsmanship by a team of 15 artisans, making it the most expensive Fantasy Bra in the brand's history.

In response to the criticism, Victoria's Secret chief creative officer Adam Selman defended the decision to feature Jenner in an interview with Vogue. Selman explained that Jenner transcends traditional boundaries of fashion, culture, and television, noting that her massive following and cultural impact make her an ideal fit for the brand's large-scale entertainment format.

Selman described the pairing as an intentional choice to give fans an unexpected talent wearing a monumental piece. As the public debate continues, Kylie Jenner has not issued a public response to the criticism surrounding her runway appearance.
