India claimed an emphatic six-wicket victory over New Zealand in the third T20 international on Tuesday, driven by a remarkable 113-run performance from Abhishek Sharma off just 38 deliveries. The visiting side successfully chased down New Zealand's target at Wellington's Westpac Trust Stadium, taking a 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

Abhishek reached his century in a mere 35 deliveries before celebrating with a meditation pose. His explosive innings included 11 sixes and nine fours. Teaming up with 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who contributed 45 runs from 18 balls, the opening pair forged a 133-run partnership in just seven overs.

The aggressive display set two remarkable powerplay records: the quickest team to reach 100 runs in only five overs and the highest total ever recorded during the powerplay, finishing that phase with 118 runs. New Zealand bowlers struggled to contain the onslaught, with Jacob Duffy conceding 26 runs in the opening over alone.

Earlier in the match, New Zealand posted a competitive total of 198/3 in their allotted 20 overs. Daryl Mitchell led the hosts' recovery with an unbeaten 89 runs from 52 balls, while Bevon Jacobs added an important 39 runs from 23 balls to help stabilize the innings after early breakthroughs by Indian bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Nitish Kumar Reddy.

In other cricket news, Bangladesh Test captain Najmul Hossain stated ahead of their upcoming series against the West Indies that being in contention for the World Test Championship top four is a source of inspiration rather than pressure. Bangladesh prepares to face the West Indies in a two-Test series starting October 28 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Bangladesh enters the series managing some injury concerns within the squad. Experienced batter Mushfiqur Rahim sustained a hand injury during practice on Tuesday, though Najmul expressed confidence in his availability. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter Litton Kumar Das continues to recover from a right hip-joint injury sustained earlier this month.

Bangladesh also adjusted its coaching staff ahead of the series, replacing batting coach Mohammad Ashraful with High Performance Unit head coach Mohammad Salahuddin on an interim basis. Najmul noted that the team anticipates a smooth transition given Salahuddin's familiarity with the dressing room.
