West Ham Suffers 3-1 Defeat to West Brom Amid Defensive Struggles

Captain Jarrod Bowen scored for the Hammers, but defensive vulnerabilities led to back-to-back home losses at London Stadium.

West Ham United fell to a 3-1 defeat against West Bromwich Albion at London Stadium, extending their winless home run and increasing pressure on manager Nuno Espirito Santo. The match saw the hosts slip further down the EFL Championship standings following another difficult defensive performance.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Felix Horn Myhre tapped in from close range after receiving a pass from Jimmy-Jay Morgan. Isaac Price orchestrated the attacking move with a throughball that cut through the West Ham defense.

Captain Jarrod Bowen brought the Hammers level shortly before the half-hour mark. Bowen drove into the penalty area and unleashed a low shot that deflected off Callum Styles and beat goalkeeper Max O'Leary at the near post, marking Bowen's seventh goal of the campaign.

West Brom regained the lead early in the second half. Following an error from replacement center-back Airidas Golambeckis—who started in place of the injured Konstantinos Mavropanos—Horn Myhre cushioned a cross into the path of Morgan, who slotted past Mads Hermansen.

Callum Styles secured the victory for James Morrison's side in the 73rd minute. After a deep corner from Price was cleared poorly by Morato, Styles lashed a shot through a crowded penalty area to make it 3-1.

The defeat leaves West Ham winless in their last four home matches across all competitions, dropping them to eighth place in the league table. Fans voiced their frustration at the final whistle, directing chants at Nuno as the team faces a crucial upcoming fixture against Cardiff City.

Nuno acknowledged the mounting pressure after the match, emphasizing the need for immediate improvement. "This is the reality: we can only change this if we win games," Nuno said. "The solution is results, we have to go back to results."
