Burnley has entered the English record books with an unwanted milestone, marking 377 days since its last home league victory according to BBC reports. The club surpassed the previous record held by Sheffield Wednesday, which had gone 376 days without securing a win in front of its home supporters in league competition.

The last time Burnley triumphed at Turf Moor in a league fixture was on October 18, 2025, when the team defeated Leeds United 2-0 in the Premier League. Since that victory, the club has endured a stretch of 21 home matches across the top two tiers of English football, recording 10 draws and 11 losses.

While Burnley has managed victories at Turf Moor in other competitions—including an FA Cup win against Millwall in January and a Carabao Cup triumph over Notts County on penalties—its extended league drought at home has now crossed the one-year mark. The team will look to end this streak when it hosts Portsmouth.

In other Championship news, Sheffield United prepares to host Wrexham at Bramall Lane for a Friday night fixture. Managed by Chris Wilder, Sheffield United sits 12th in the standings, trailing the top eight by four points, following a recent 1-1 draw against Derby where Patrick Bamford scored an equalizer 11 minutes before the final whistle.

Sheffield United faces several roster challenges ahead of the match, with Ryan One sidelined due to a hamstring issue, and both Matt Doherty and Jamie Shackleton unavailable. Patrick Bamford remains questionable following a shoulder concern against Derby, though Femi Siriki returns to the squad after two months out.

Wrexham enters the fixture in 17th place, trailing its hosts by two points under manager Phil Parkinson. Following three straight promotions and a seventh-place finish last season, Wrexham has recorded three wins, five draws, and four defeats from 12 games, and seeks a turnaround after losing both meetings against Sheffield United last season.

Wrexham continues to deal with a depleted lineup, missing Max Cleworth, Liberato Cacace, George Thomason, and Nathan Broadhead, while Josh Windass remains doubtful due to an ankle problem. Former Sheffield United striker Kieffer Moore is expected to lead the line for Wrexham after scoring twice in his last three outings.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Middlesbrough announced the addition of former Swansea City sporting director Paul Watson as its new chief technical officer. Watson, who has previously worked with Luton Town and Brentford, joins the club alongside newly renewed contracts for head of football Kieran Scott and head of recruitment Chris Jones.
