Valentín Fascendini Scores Spectacular Goal as Talleres Leads Riestra

Deportivo Riestra and Talleres faced each other on Saturday at the Guillermo Laza stadium in Buenos Aires for the group stage of the Professional League. The match, referee-led by Darío Herrera with Sebastián Habib in the VAR, brought together two sides looking to improve their standing in the tournament.

Talleres manager Omar De Felippe adjusted his tactical scheme to a five-man defensive line to mirror the home team's formation. This tactical shift allowed central defender Valentín Fascendini to push forward into the attack during the opening half of the game.

At the 24-minute mark of the first half, Fascendini received a pass from Matías Galarza outside the penalty area. The former Boca Juniors defender unleashed a powerful left-footed shot that beat goalkeeper Marino Arzamendia, finding the back of the net to open the scoring.

The brilliant long-range strike marked Fascendini's first career goal in the First Division and his first since joining Talleres. Having faced criticism from supporters regarding his previous performances, the defender found significant relief through his standout opening goal.

Statistical dominance favored the visiting team throughout the first 45 minutes of play. Talleres controlled roughly 59 percent of the possession and registered five shots on goal, while Riestra managed three attempts on target before heading into the halftime break trailing 1-0.

As the second half commenced, both managers introduced a flurry of substitutions to alter the momentum of the match. Talleres brought on players such as Mateo Cáceres, Diego Valoyes, and Santiago Fernández, while Riestra turned to Nicolás Benegas, Agustín Graneros, and Gabriel Obredor to spark an equalizer.

Entering the fixture, both clubs experienced difficult runs of form in domestic competition. Talleres sought to climb away from the bottom of the standings following recent losses against Defensa y Justicia, Boca Juniors, and Belgrano, alongside a scoreless draw against Independiente.

Meanwhile, Deportivo Riestra entered the match following a narrow defeat to Instituto, a draw against Unión, and a loss to San Lorenzo. The encounter continued live through ESPN Premium as both teams battled through the final stretch of the group stage.
