USA Cycling Foundation Launches Annual Fundraising Auction for LA28
The auction features prized items like Tadej Pogacar's Monument-winning Colnago and signed rainbow jerseys to fund American athletes.
The USA Cycling Foundation has officially launched its annual fundraising auction, offering cycling enthusiasts and sports fans the opportunity to acquire rare memorabilia while supporting American athletes on their journey to the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games. Because home athletes in the United States do not receive government funding, their preparation relies heavily on personal expenses and private sponsors.
The online auction opened on Wednesday, November 4, and will run through Monday, November 9, featuring a total of 99 distinct items. Alongside high-end equipment, bidders have access to unique non-materialistic experiences, including group rides with former professional cyclists Keegan Swenson, Christopher Blevins, and Alexey Vermeulen.
The premier highlight of the fundraising event is a specialized Colnago V5Rs bicycle ridden to victory by Tadej Pogacar at the 2025 Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Donated directly by Colnago and featuring a world champion edition design, the bike carries an estimated value of $80,000 and opens with a starting bid of $25,000. Organizers anticipate the final sale price could reach between $150,000 and $200,000 based on previous sales of Pogacar's equipment.
In addition to the marquee bicycle, the auction includes signed rainbow jerseys from newly crowned United States world champions Ashlin Barry and Brandon McNulty. For supporters interested in options beyond competitive cycling, the catalog also lists sports and concert tickets, vacation packages, and hotel stays.
Molly Pickall, the executive director of the USA Cycling Foundation, emphasized the vital role of private donations in developing competitive talent. "Our athletes are proof of what private support can do," Pickall stated regarding the importance of community backing for the national team.
Looking ahead to the Summer Games in Los Angeles, Pickall noted the historic significance of competing on domestic ground. "In Paris, American women won every one of Team USA's Olympic cycling medals. LA28 is the first Summer Games on home soil since 1996, and we want to arrive with the strongest team we've ever fielded. This auction gives every fan, anywhere in the country, a way to be part of the Foundation that supports USA Cycling," she added.
