Emilien Jacquelin to Stay with Decathlon-CMA CGM for 2027 Cycling Season
The French athlete has decided to bypass the upcoming biathlon season to focus entirely on his professional cycling career.
Emilien Jacquelin is set to remain with the Decathlon-CMA CGM cycling team for the 2027 season, according to reports published on Monday, November 2. Despite drawing interest from other outfits such as TotalEnergies and Unibet Rose Rockets, the athlete opted to continue with his current team.
Following an impressive introduction to road cycling where he served as a reliable teammate, Jacquelin revealed his intention to skip the upcoming winter biathlon campaign weeks ago. His full attention will now shift toward competing in cycling events.
Discussing his decision with Le Parisien, Jacquelin described his choice to extend his contract as a sporting decision. He noted that the move stems from a desire to fully commit to his development on the bike.
Reflecting on the timeline of his transition, Jacquelin explained that he had evaluated his athletic future alongside the French biathlon team during a training camp in Correncon. That evaluation ultimately led to his definitive choice.
He stated to the French daily newspaper: We had agreed with the French biathlon team to use the Correncon training camp as a milestone to determine whether I would return for the winter season or not. I have made the decision to continue with cycling over the coming months and skip the upcoming winter with the biathlon team.
The decision marks a significant turning point in Jacquelin's sporting path, as he transitions further away from winter sports to solidify his place in the professional cycling peloton with Decathlon-CMA CGM.
