The American electric vehicle manufacturer will begin displaying models in November as part of a major renovation at the Buenos Aires shopping center.

Tesla is preparing to enter the Argentine market with its first exhibition space located inside Unicenter, the country's prominent shopping center situated in Martínez, Buenos Aires province. The initial phase of the rollout, scheduled to begin in late November, will feature a display of two vehicles on the first level of the mall, operated directly by the company without local independent dealerships.

Following the initial exhibition, the automaker plans to advance toward full retail sales and test-drive operations. According to details shared by Cencosud, the Chilean group that owns Unicenter, a dedicated test-drive area with ten vehicles is planned for the parking lot's H section. Regional operations are currently directed by Joaquín Lizarralde, who serves as the country manager for Argentina and Uruguay.

While the company has not yet officially confirmed which models will debut locally, industry analysts anticipate vehicles such as the Model 3, the Model Y, and the Cybertruck as potential candidates. Pricing details for Argentina remain unannounced, though local sector estimates suggest that final consumer costs will likely exceed prices in the United States due to logistical expenses, marketing costs, and applicable taxes such as the 21% value-added tax.

The entry of the electric vehicle manufacturer is supported by recent regulatory adjustments in Argentina regarding vehicle imports. These changes include a bilateral trade agreement framework with the United States offering annual quotas exempt from the 35% extra-zonal tariff, automatic recognition of safety homologations from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and an increased FOB value threshold for zero-tariff electric vehicle imports, which shifted from $16,000 to $35,000.

Tesla's arrival coincides with a broader, multimillion-dollar transformation project at Unicenter led by Cencosud. The investment encompasses adding more than 20,000 square meters of new constructed surface area, incorporating approximately 85 new stores, and expanding services such as health clinics and fitness facilities to modernize the complex for its millions of monthly visitors.

The shopping center expansion project also involves municipal infrastructure updates in San Isidro to manage traffic flow around the Panamericana highway area. Meanwhile, Tesla continues to build its local corporate framework, having established a local subsidiary earlier in the year and explored infrastructure partnerships for rapid charging networks.
