Argentine folk music star Soledad Pastorutti has opened up about a difficult personal chapter, revealing that her father, Omar Alberto Pastorutti, has been dealing with a complex cognitive decline for the past five years. The singer shared the deeply personal news during a recent interview while promoting her new album, "Vale la pena."

The artist explained that her father no longer fully recognizes her or understands his surroundings. Describing the toll the situation has taken on her, she noted that it was a long process to understand what was happening while she simultaneously tried to keep up with her professional commitments and singing schedule.

The emotional weight of her father's condition inspired the track "Mi refugio," which is featured on her latest record. Pastorutti recorded the song in near-total darkness, capturing the performance line by line and choosing to keep the raw demo version rather than attempting to perfect it in the studio.

Despite his memory loss, Pastorutti shared a touching moment when she played the finished song for her father. Although he struggles to identify her in daily life, she recalled that upon hearing the music, he recognized her voice and cried continuously.

Omar Pastorutti played a fundamental role in the early days of his daughter's career, acting as her manager, selling her first records at gas stations, and securing loans to support her musical ambitions. The singer expressed sorrow that he cannot fully enjoy her current success and his grandchildren, remembering him as a fair and supportive guide.

The health concerns surrounding her father first came into wider public view earlier this year when he was absent from her milestone anniversary concert in Cosquín due to medical reasons. Pastorutti continues to live and work with her family rooted in their hometown of Arequito as she balances her career and ongoing family responsibilities.
