Sir Tom Jones Reschedules US Tour Dates After Catching the Flu
The 86-year-old music legend was forced to postpone concerts in Los Angeles and San Diego on doctors' orders.
Music legend Sir Tom Jones has been forced to reschedule upcoming tour dates on doctors' orders after being struck down by a bad case of the flu. The 86-year-old Welsh singer is currently on the United States leg of his Come Gather Round Tour and has successfully completed 20 shows across the country so far.
The unexpected illness led to the postponement of his performance scheduled for Monday at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, as well as his concert on Tuesday in San Diego. The San Diego show has been moved to November 3 at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, while the Los Angeles event will now take place on November 4.
In a statement shared on Instagram just hours before he was due to take the stage in Los Angeles, the singer expressed his regret to fans. He stated that he has had a great time performing for wonderful audiences across the United States over the last few weeks before being unexpectedly hit by the illness.
Following doctor's advice, I unfortunately have to reschedule tonight's show in Los Angeles and tomorrow's show in San Diego, Sir Tom wrote on social media. I am truly sorry for any inconvenience caused. I look forward to seeing you all soon.
Organizers confirmed that all tickets purchased for the original dates will remain valid for the rescheduled performances. Ticket holders who are unable to attend the new dates have been advised to contact their original point of purchase to obtain a refund.
The Los Angeles venue and thousands of fans quickly responded to the announcement by offering supportive messages and well wishes in the comment section of his social media post. Followers expressed hope for a speedy recovery as the singer takes time to rest.
The postponement comes just weeks after the veteran performer made headlines regarding his departure from the judging panel on ITV's The Voice. After serving as a coach on and off since the show's debut in 2012, Sir Tom revealed last month that it was not his decision to leave the program after 13 years.
