Hamburg law enforcement and prosecutors have arrested six young men in connection with the violent death of 24-year-old student Kenneth Obinna, whose body was found earlier this year. The suspects, aged 19 to 23, face serious charges including manslaughter by omission, with five of them also facing allegations of joint assault resulting in death.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the fatal incident began on the evening of February 6, when the victim was allegedly lured to an address in Wilhelmsburg under the pretext of resolving a financial dispute. Investigators stated that the confrontation quickly escalated into violence, with multiple suspects striking and kicking the young man to force payment and punish him.

Investigators believe that some of the attackers delivered severe blows, including kicks to the head, even after the victim had collapsed to the ground. Rather than calling for medical assistance, the suspects allegedly left the severely injured and unconscious man at the scene before moving him to the Göhlbachtal area in Eissendorf, where he was abandoned.

Senior Public Prosecutor Mia Sperling-Karstens detailed the initial setup, explaining that five of the suspects arranged the meeting in Wilhelmsburg over a purported monetary demand before launching a massive physical assault. The victim ultimately received no professional medical care for hours.

The 24-year-old's plight ended only when an acquaintance discovered him, attempted resuscitation, and alerted emergency services at around 1:30 a.m. Despite these rescue efforts, the student died the following morning on February 7 from his extensive injuries.

The case previously drew significant public attention and sparked sharp criticism from the victim's family, who expressed dismay months ago over communication issues with authorities regarding the investigative process. A large memorial service and a commemorative march were held in Wilhelmsburg following his death.

Law enforcement officials executed the arrest warrants early Thursday morning around 6 a.m., marking a major breakthrough after months of ongoing inquiries. All six suspects were scheduled to face a judge, while the investigation continues and the presumption of innocence remains in effect.
