Alperen Sengun put on a dominant display on Monday night, recording 26 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds to lift the Houston Rockets to a 109-93 victory over the Boston Celtics at the Toyota Center.

With the win, the Rockets improved to a 7-1 record on the season, capturing first place in the Western Conference after the previously undefeated Memphis Grizzlies fell in overtime to New Orleans. The victory marks Houston's best start to a campaign since the 2014-15 season.

For Boston, the loss brought an end to a five-game winning streak. The Celtics dropped to 5-2 on the year, having not lost since their season-opening defeat against the Detroit Pistons.

Playing on the second night of a back-to-back after defeating the Orlando Magic on Sunday, the Celtics struggled significantly with their shooting. Boston shot just 39 percent from the field and converted only 29 percent of their three-point attempts, going 12-for-42 from beyond the arc. The team was also playing without veteran forward Paul George, who was sidelined for rest.

The Rockets never trailed throughout the contest, controlling the pace and dominating inside. Houston outscored Boston 50-34 in the paint and held a decisive 18-2 advantage on the fast break. Although the first quarter ended in a 29-29 tie, Houston pulled ahead to take a 57-50 lead into halftime and steadily extended their margin in the second half.

Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 19 points, though he endured a tough shooting night, going 5-for-16 from the floor and 1-for-7 from three-point range. Neemias Queta added 16 points for Boston, and reserve center Luka Garza contributed 14 points by hitting four shots from long distance. Meanwhile, former Celtic Marcus Smart chipped in eight points, four rebounds, and four assists for Houston, frequently disrupting Boston's rhythm.

Supporting Sengun's stellar performance, Jabari Smith Jr. and Amen Thompson each tallied 14 points for the Rockets. Tari Eason added 13 points, and Kevin Durant chipped in 12 points on efficient 5-of-6 shooting.

Looking ahead, the Rockets will remain at home to host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night. The Celtics will return to Boston to host the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday before embarking on a four-game road trip.
