The Houston Rockets will visit the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, for an NBA Cup Group Play matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET, with the game broadcast live on NBA League Pass, SCHN, and KFAA.

Houston enters the contest with a 5-0 record, looking to extend its unblemished start. The Rockets are coming off a 132-100 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night to open a brief two-game road trip. Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks hold a 3-2 record and aim to build momentum following consecutive road and home victories against the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

This contest serves as a rematch of the season opener, which the Rockets won 128-110 at home. In that earlier meeting, Dallas forward Cooper Flagg scored 32 points on 10-of-17 shooting, while Alperen Sengun contributed a 23-point, 10-rebound double-double for Houston. Flagg has continued his strong sophomore campaign, averaging 25.3 points, 6.8 assists, and 5.3 rebounds per game.

Both teams enter the matchup dealing with notable roster challenges. The Rockets list center Alperen Sengun as questionable due to low back soreness after he missed the game against Milwaukee. Houston's injury report also includes Steven Adams, Quadir Copeland, Julian Phillips, and Reed Sheppard as out, alongside Marcus Smart, who is questionable with a left forearm strain.

Dallas head coach Dusty May will have some reinforcements available, as Naji Marshall returns after missing two games due to an illness. Caleb Martin is also available despite playing with a splint on his right thumb. However, the Mavericks ruled out Santi Aldama and Tarik Biberovic, while Sergio De Larrea remains sidelined with a right knee sprain, and Dereck Lively II continues his recovery from right foot surgery.

The Rockets have excelled offensively early in the season, leading the NBA in offensive rating. Fred VanVleet stepped up with 24 points in the recent win over Milwaukee to help compensate for missing personnel. Mavericks coach Dusty May noted that his team is focused on maintaining its recent competitive rhythm as they host the undefeated conference rivals.

Betting markets list the Rockets as favorites on the road, with point spreads ranging between 5.5 and 6.5 points, while the over/under total sits between 224.5 and 226.5 points. Both squads will look to secure an important early win in tournament play as the regular-season schedule gathers pace.
