Samsung and KIA are set to clash this afternoon at 2 p.m. at Daegu Samsung Lions Park for the final Game 5 of the playoffs, with a trip to the Korean Series hanging in the balance. Both squads enter the elimination matchup deadlocked at two games apiece in the series.

To shoulder the immense pressure of the do-or-die game, both coaching staffs have named Ariel Jurado and Adam Oller as their starting pitchers. The two hurlers will face off once again following four days of rest after their previous meeting in Game 2 of the playoffs last month.

Jurado secured a dominant victory for Samsung during their initial duel. Over six and two-thirds innings, Jurado threw 108 pitches, giving up five hits, two walks, and three strikeouts while allowing two runs to lead his team to an 8-3 triumph.

Conversely, Oller struggled significantly in the second game, yielding five runs, including a home run, across four and two-thirds innings while throwing 96 pitches, ultimately absorbing the loss.

After being shut down by Jurado in Game 2, KIA mounted a dramatic comeback in Game 4 to force the series into a fifth and final game. Capitalizing on a defensive miscue by Samsung in the seventh inning, KIA erased a one-deficit to secure a 4-2 victory.

With momentum on their side, KIA has signaled that it will deploy all available resources, including veteran left-handed pitcher Yang Hyeon-jong, who stands ready for relief duty. Yang could be called upon early if Oller falters or during critical junctures against Samsung's left-handed heavy hitters such as Koo Ja-wook and Choi Hyoung-u.

The victor of today's fifth game will advance directly to face the KT Wiz, the regular-season champions, for the championship trophy. Broadcast coverage of the decisive playoff matchup will begin on television channels shortly before the first pitch.
