MLB Expansion Odds and Neon Baseball Tour Highlights

Betting markets reveal frontrunners for potential Major League Baseball expansion while minor league stadiums prepare for an immersive neon tour.

As Major League Baseball evaluates its long-term future, betting markets and entertainment schedules are highlighting new developments across the sport. While league expansion remains a topic of speculation regarding potential new cities and stadium challenges, alternative baseball entertainment experiences are simultaneously expanding their reach across the country.

According to recent odds from BetOnline Sports and Casino, Nashville, Tennessee, has emerged as the frontrunner to secure a potential new franchise if the league decides to expand from 30 to 32 teams. Nashville leads the board with 2/3 odds, followed by Salt Lake City, Utah, at 5/2, and Raleigh, North Carolina, at 6/1. Montreal, Canada, which previously hosted the Montreal Expos before their relocation to Washington in 2005, is listed at 5/1.

Despite the growing interest in expansion markets, the league faces several logistical hurdles before adding new franchises. Ongoing stadium projects for existing teams, such as the Tampa Bay Rays' approved $2.36 billion ballpark agreement, the Kansas City Royals' downtown ballpark plans targeted for 2030, and the Athletics' ongoing move toward Las Vegas, require significant attention from league officials.

Adding two teams would bring both the American League and the National League to 16 clubs each. However, a 32-team total would complicate the current six-division format, forcing the league to consider major structural realignment to balance divisions that would otherwise feature unequal numbers of teams.

While league executives weigh future expansion and stadium commitments, fans are also looking forward to alternative baseball entertainment. Cosmic Baseball, an immersive blacklight experience, officially announced its 2027 touring schedule across 44 Minor League Baseball stadiums, including a stop at Toyota Field in Madison, Alabama, on March 27, 2027.

The upcoming tour builds on the success of the 2026 season, which featured 74 sold-out games across 30 markets and drew over 750,000 fans. The glowing nighttime spectacle features professional teams competing under UV-reactive gear, accompanied by a live DJ, interactive fan engagement, and new production features such as a 360-degree fireworks display.

“The energy on our 2026 tour was absolutely electric, blowing past every expectation we set,” said Martin regarding the production's massive growth. “For 2027, we’ve dialed up the production, added groundbreaking new in-game features, and created a glowing nighttime performance that fans will be talking about long after the final light goes out.”
