Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan are opening up about various chapters of their relationship, from their early days of living together to a terrifying knife attack at their Mumbai residence. The couple, who married in October 2012, recently reflected on their personal and professional lives during their upcoming appearance on the talk show Koffee With Karan Season 9.

Reflecting on their relationship history, Kapoor recalled the period when they decided to move in together prior to their marriage. While her famous and somewhat conservative family accepted the decision eventually, her sister Karisma Kapoor noted that it came as a surprise. Meanwhile, Saif's mother, veteran actor Sharmila Tagore, expressed amusement at how casually Kapoor had announced they were living together, contrasting it with the strict secrecy surrounding unmarried cohabitation during her own youth.

Beyond personal milestones, the couple also addressed a profoundly frightening moment in their lives. On January 16, 2025, an intruder entered their Bandra residence, leading to a violent knife attack on Saif. The actor sustained serious injuries that required a five-hour surgery at Lilavati Hospital to remove a 2.5-inch blade fragment near his spine. Police subsequently arrested a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national named Mohammad Shariful Islam in connection with the incident.

Recalling the traumatic event, Kapoor shared the emotional toll it took on her, stating that she struggled with insomnia for six months following the attack. She described the chaos of that night, remembering how she screamed for help on the road. Saif characterized the ordeal as the worst night in history, noting that he attempted to remain composed throughout the attack because their children were present.

In addition to discussing their personal resilience, the couple continues to maintain active professional lives. Saif recently reunited with actor Akshay Kumar in the neo-noir crime thriller Haiwaan, directed by Priyadarshan. Released in theaters on September 11, 2026, the film features Saif as a visually impaired maintenance manager caught in a murder investigation opposite Kumar's revenge-driven character. Media reports suggest the movie is slated for a digital premiere on SonyLIV.

Away from the screen, Kapoor and Saif have established clear boundaries to balance their demanding careers and parenting responsibilities with their sons, Taimur and Jeh. The couple coordinates their shooting schedules so that one parent is always home, and they maintain a strict pact to take time off during school holidays to focus entirely on their family.
