Lynn Ann Veres, the wife of The Doors guitarist Robby Krieger, passed away peacefully on October 29 at the age of 79, following more than five decades of marriage. Krieger, 80, shared the sad news in a statement on social media, noting that she died with him and their son, Waylon, by her side until the end.

The couple first crossed paths in 1967 during the height of The Doors' fame at a New York City nightclub. Initially, Veres dated the band's frontman, Jim Morrison, who invited her to Los Angeles. Upon arriving at Morrison's home, she encountered his longtime partner, Pamela Courson, which led to a dramatic confrontation that resulted in Veres walking out.

Krieger later grew close to Veres as she distanced herself from Morrison and his volatile lifestyle. The pair married on Christmas Day in 1972 and welcomed their son, Waylon, a year later. Reflecting on their relationship in a 2021 interview, Krieger recalled that he began seeing her when she was frustrated with Morrison's antics, and the connection ultimately blossomed into an enduring romance.

Veres served as the real-life inspiration and creative catalyst for one of The Doors' most recognizable anthems, "Love Her Madly." Krieger explained in past interviews that the track was inspired by her fiery temperament. "This was about my girlfriend, and now my wife, Lynn. She had a bad temper, and when she'd get mad, she'd slam the door, and the house would shake," the guitarist said.

Throughout their long marriage, the couple maintained a grounded dynamic away from the flashiness often associated with the rock-and-roll lifestyle. In his 2021 memoir, "Set the Night on Fire," Krieger dedicated the book to his wife and praised her unwavering acceptance, writing that she was the only person he had ever met who truly allowed him to be himself.

Following the public announcement of her passing, fans, friends, and admirers flooded social media to share tributes and express their condolences to the guitarist and his family. Krieger and drummer John Densmore remain the final two surviving original members of The Doors, following the deaths of Jim Morrison in 1971 and keyboardist Ray Manzarek in 2013.
