Real Madrid continued its strong run in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday by securing a 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. With this result, the team coached by José Mourinho earned its third consecutive win in as many matches, collecting nine points and placing itself near the top of the league phase standings alongside other dominant European clubs.

Despite the final scoreline, the home side experienced moments of defensive disorganization during the first half. The German visitors applied pressure, but individual brilliance and tactical adjustments in the second half allowed Real Madrid to take control of the fixture. Goals from Bernardo Silva, Arda Güler, Kylian Mbappé, and Yan Diomande sealed the three points for the hosts.

Manager José Mourinho addressed the media after the match to discuss individual performances, including that of Brazilian forward Vinícius Júnior. Mourinho defended the player's contribution to the team's defensive balance and explained that his substitution was tactical, enabled by the depth of the squad's bench. "De Vinícius Júnior se espera siempre más, de Vinícius Júnior se espera siempre que sea individualmente decisivo, pero él ha hecho un partido que a mí me ha gustó," Mourinho stated in translation, highlighting that the forward executed his defensive responsibilities effectively.

The Portuguese coach also praised the performance of Federico Valverde, who operated at right-back during the match. Mourinho noted that the right side of the pitch showed strong associativity with Güler, Silva, and Valverde combining well to generate attacking chances. Additionally, Eduardo Camavinga received praise for his performance in the center of the pitch, bringing speed and control to the team's transitions.

Mourinho emphasized the importance of accumulating points early in the newly formatted Champions League structure to secure a direct spot in the round of 16 and avoid complex playoff scenarios. With nine points secured, the club sits comfortably in the upper tier of the table, though the coach maintained that the squad still has room for improvement defensively, pointing out that conceding late goals remains an area to correct.

The European fixture comes during a demanding week for the club, which recently faced off against Sevilla in domestic competition amidst off-field institutional friction. Protests involving banners referencing the Negreira case and remarks from league officials have surrounded the club's environment, adding tension ahead of upcoming domestic fixtures.

As the tournament progresses, the top eight finishers at the end of the league phase will advance directly to the round of 16, while clubs ranking from ninth to twenty-fourth will contest a two-legged knockout playoff round. Real Madrid aims to maintain its momentum to secure qualification before the final matches of the initial phase.
